Meet the Team
Isadora
Isadora has been the proud owner of Rixey Manor since 2014, pouring her heart and soul into every nook and cranny of the estate. With her blood, sweat, and tears ingrained in its very foundation, she is fiercely dedicated to ensuring that every wedding day unfolds seamlessly. Her role transcends mere management; she becomes an unwavering ally in her couples' corner. Whether it's expertly fixing dresses with a needle and thread, bravely standing up to demanding relatives, or meticulously orchestrating every aspect of the weekend, Isadora is determined to bring her couples' dreams to life.
Grace (and Corrie)
Grace has been an indispensable part of the Manor since nearly its inception, and with each passing year, her role expands. As Isadora's trusted right hand, she ensures that every behind-the-scenes detail is flawlessly executed. With a special expertise in tending to the needs of extended family members who may require a little extra attention, Grace allows everyone else to relax and enjoy the celebration without worry. Whether it's the meticulous lighting of a thousand candles, the precise arrangement of tables and food, or providing that extra touch of care, Grace is there, ensuring everything unfolds seamlessly.
On a side note Grace is camera shy so this is a rare photo. Corrie, for instance, not only lends her talents as a hairstylist and makeup artist but also jumps in to help wherever needed as "Extra Hands". In this case trimming Graces' hair after an unexpected candle incident.

The Animals
Meet the furry team to love to be involved
Justin and Marshall
Justin and Marshall hold a special place at our venue as our two beloved rescue horses. Justin is brimming with personality, his spirited demeanor bringing joy to all who meet him. Marshall, on the other hand, serves as Justin's emotional support horse, offering comfort and solace whenever needed. Together, they form an inseparable duo, enriching the atmosphere of our venue with their unique bond and gentle presence.
The Cows (Buttercup, Petunia, Jake, Ti, and Carl Wayne)
Our cows are not just residents; they're cherished members of our family, all raised on-site from bottle-fed babies. While they're here primarily for photo ops and leisurely grazing, they bring so much more to our farm's charm. Jake stands out easily with his classic black and white markings, while the caramel hues of Petunia and her daughter Buttercup add a touch of warmth to the pasture. Despite their similar appearance, Ti and Carl Wayne have their own stories to tell. Ti, a smaller brown cow, holds a special place in our hearts as an orphan, lovingly raised alongside his adopted brother. Each one of them contributes to the picturesque landscape and friendly atmosphere to the Manor, making every visit a memorable experience.
Gryffindor and Duck
Meet Gryffindor and Duck, our dynamic duo of rescue dogs, each with their own heartwarming tale. Despite their English origins and shared history of weathering the storms of Covid, they've found a new home and purpose here with us. Gryf, overflowing with intelligence and playfulness, embodies the spirit of mischief and joy. Duck, though a part-time resident, is a full-time sweetheart, spreading love and cheer wherever he goes. Both are beloved members of our community, known for their gentle nature and affinity for all creatures great and small. While they often make appearances during meetings and morning routines, they're given cozy refuge at home during the hustle and bustle of weekend events, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

How To Staff Rixey Team
All weddings require two bartenders (no matter what is been served we can't leave the bar unattended even for bathroom or food breaks).
We then recommend one for every 50 guests.
We then recommend one for every 50 guests.
Extra Bartenders
If you would like to do a specialty bar hosted on the roof or back deck, wine pouring, champagne toast pours, particularly elaborate cocktails, or real glassware (we provide all the hard plastic and other things that are behind the bar) then you may want to add another bartender on regardless of your guest numbers!
When do you need a bartender?
If at anytime you are serving alcohol to anyone who is not a VIP (i.e. staying in the house, or immediate family) the bar must be staffed. Rehearsals and Brunches we only require one unless numbers dictate otherwise.
Coordination
All our weddings included coordination. Check out the FAQ's to find out what that means at Rixey.
Other Coordinators
It is usually Isadora, but Grace has been working at the Manor for nearly 10 year and is ready to step in if the event seem like it might be suited to their skill set (or Isadora is sick).
Extra Set's of Hands
Following is where you might want to consider employing an "Extra Set of Hand" - but honestly if it is within your budget to do so please do. It will usually be Grace, or one of my other experienced and great team members so it's a little like getting a second coordinator and "fire-puter-outer" for $300.
Just bringing in one extra set of hands can usually cover most of the following scenarios.
Just bringing in one extra set of hands can usually cover most of the following scenarios.
If you wedding is a little "extra"
Then your coordinator might need a little Extra help - the Manor spaces flow nicely but they also cover a lot of ground and sometimes two bodies are better than one
Lots of New Vendors
If your vendor team compromises lots of new to the Manor vendors and extra set of hands can tend to their concerns and questions so your coordinator can continue to focus on the VIP'S
Rain Plan
If you are a couple who are concerned about wet weather logistic (even though typically we aren't) you can always bring in a team member who is specifically versed in your visions and can communicate that to the catering team as flips happen.
Rehearsal Dinner
Rehearsal Dinners rarely are catered by "full service" caterers. Extra hands will do things like set tables, heat and set food, clear plates, take care of trash, and break the space down for the wedding. We typically recommend one for every 35 guests where food is being served.
Food Set Up
If you are thinking of doing a cookie bar, elaborate food favors, late night snack (think frozen pizza)
Elaborate Decor Set Ups
We love DIY and personal touches but they do take a while to set up (as do all those amazing candle, especially floating ones) - and while the plan is to get things as organized as possible so set up is smooth best laid plans and the weather can throw them off.
Food Trucks
If you are doing a Food Truck or restaurant catered wedding with no, or limited staff you must bring in extra hands. Please see the additions for a breakdown of how we work this out and pricing.
Lots of Rentals and Rental Deliveries
Again this is usually Grace and the hours she works in this role can be very varied but it allows for drop off and pick ups on "off" days which can help save you money, but also ensure that everything is returned as it should be, to who it should be.
That Guest
Or guests. Some wedding have guests that need a little more TLC - due to age, illness or just wanting to keep them out of your hair we regularly provide extra hand just to make sure they feel happy and relaxed.

Deliveries/Drop Offs/Check Out
Ideally these things would happen as follows - however as with everything we are very happy to be flexible depending on circumstances
Alcohol
All Alcohol (especially kegs) need to be at the Manor on Thursday before your wedding as they need time to settle and cool. If you are ordering through Vinosity they will arrange this with us, but if not you need to schedule and appointment so we can be here to check what is coming in and tell the bartending staff in advance of their shift beginning.
If possible please pack your specialty cocktail ingredients into a box per cocktail. Missing ingredients is one of the most common problems and this double check it on your end, and on ours so we have time to rectify.

Decor
If you are ordering it online you can save yourself a lot of packing and unpacking by having it delivered directly to us at the Manor on the week leading up to your wedding. Just make sure your name and our address are correct.
Other decor is typically dropped off with the Alcohol. Please make sure it is packed as per the Handbook so we are coming to you with as few questions as possible.

Tent Rentals
The important thing to note is that they must go up before any of your other rentals arrive, and must be taken down after. We can help with this coordination, so just let us know.
Linens, Chair, Other rentals
Must come after the tent is up (just ignore that if there is no tent), but before check in on Friday - UNLESS they are coming through a caterer then they can arrive as the caterer does.
Packing Up
The Rixey Team will pack up most of your wedding things either late after the wedding, or first thing the next day.
We will advise all those staying at the Manor for the weekend to focus on their personal things, and bedroom first.

Policies Per Our Insurance
While ever there is an "event" going on there must be a bartender serving ALL alcohol (we will remove alcohol from anyone bringing in their own and host it behind the bar).
When the Manor is used as an "airbnb" you and the guests who are staying in the house may serve themselves.
We define the shift between the two is when there are only overnight guests and immediate families left in the house.
It is at your coordinators discretion.

Where to purchase your alcohol
Costco in D.C. sells liquor (but legally there are some grey areas about bringing it across State lines)
Vinosity in Culpeper can order and deliver wine, and speciality kegs.
Total Wine and Beer is great for kegs and wine.
If your kegs come from Vinosity or Total Wine we are happy post wedding to return them for you (typically they don't fit back in the car).

Alcohol Quantities
The typical wedding alcohol calculation is one drink per person per hour, so on average eight drinks per person, so 800, for a 120-person wedding.
Don’t take out the people you know who don’t drink, etc; they balance out the people who drink two drinks an hour.
Below are the figures for a 120-person wedding at the Manor. It would last you Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They tend to be generous as you can return them.
We usually recommend no more than 4 or 5 types of wine. (2 red, two white/rose, one sparkling for mimosas, toasts, etc.)
Please, no ½ kegs, as they are unsafe to move down our staircase.

We recommend three different types of alcoholic bars: -
Beer and Wine
8 - cases of wine (1 case of sparkling, 4 white/rose in summer, 3 in winter, 4 red in winter, 3 in summer)
2 - 1/6th Kegs of Beer (Add another 1/6th if you are looking at over 120 people and supplying rehearsal dinner)
2 - 1/4 Keg of Beer
Beer, Wine, and Specialty Cocktails
8 - cases of wine (1 case of sparkling, 4 white/rose in summer, 3 in winter, 4 red in winter, 3 in summer)
2 - 1/6th Kegs of Beer
2 - 1/4 Keg of Beer
Two specialty cocktails – enough to make up a mix of at least 2 gallons (some sample recipes below)
Modified Full Bar
6 cases of wine (1 case of sparkling, 4 white/rose in summer, 3 in winter, 4 red in winter, 3 in summer)
2 - 1/6th Kegs of Beer
2 -1/4 Keg of Beer
1 or 2 handles of each of the following – rum, gin, vodka, fireball (why is this such a thing at weddings)
2 or 3 handles of Jack Daniel’s

Mixers
You may choose to do you mixer package through the caterer. It can work well but please remember we need ice for Friday night. We can usually supply mixers for a small rehearsal dinner.
To any of these you can add in a specialty bar (rum, bourbon) where you just stock lots of varieties of each.
Sometimes behind the bar, sometimes at a satellite bar.
Please try to limit the number of shot only liquors (Tequila).
Other things you need to bring to stock the bar: -
Ice (60 to 80lbs) – we have lots of room to store it
Water (at least 6 cases of water; the smaller bottles are better)
Soda – Coke (4 cases of 12 packs), Sprite, Ginger Ale, Diet Coke, Tonic Water, Soda Water (2 cases of 12 packs).
Juices – Orange Juice (we keep it stocked for mimosas, breakfasts, etc.), cranberry, pineapple, Sour Mix
Condiments – Olives, Cherry’s, Oranges, Lemons, Limes
Please give us a call on Monday before your wedding to see what we have left over from previous weddings. We almost always have soda and mixers.

Specialty Cocktails
We only ever have one point that the bar service can be a little backed up and that is immediately after the wedding ceremony. Specialty cocktails help alleviate this as we can have them on the bar ready to go, and it reduces guest decision making time.
While not essential cocktails that can be batch made are usually the most efficient - or ones where we just add a sparkling something on top (champagne, soda water etc.).
When packing to drop off please put each specialty cocktail ingredients in a box together to insure you don't forget anything for them

On a side note Grace is camera shy so this is a rare photo. Corrie, for instance, not only lends her talents as a hairstylist and makeup artist but also jumps in to help wherever needed as "Extra Hands". In this case trimming Graces' hair after an unexpected candle incident.

Usually the post wedding hang out includes a change into PJ's, leftovers from the fridge and a post wedding analysis with your nearest and dearest who are staying on site.
Quiet Morning After
If there is no brunch organized, check out is at 10am and the morning usually consists of dividing left over food and alcohol, and lots of coffee.

Our Packages are Inclusive
But sometimes you might want to extend the celebrations to more guests or more hours. Everyone's contract is a little different so please check as these things might already be included - if an upgrade here is cheaper than on your contract we will honor this price.
Food Truck/Restaurant/Pot Luck Catering
We love encouraging people to reflect their heritage and favorite foods at their wedding, or rehearsal dinner - but these types of catering never come with staffing to help with the rest of the wedding things, or helping with rentals (both numbers and coordinating delivery).
As traditional caterers are getting more expensive we are implementing a new staff role at Rixey Manor. A food coordinator.
The Food Coordinator will arrange serving staff, help you with rentals or purchase of linens and tabletop wears, coordinate where the food is coming from, how it will be kept hot, clean up, store left overs, the list is endless.
If you feel like you would benefit from this service please let us know.
It will work out approximately $20 - 35 per head - including all staff, and your coordinator. The variation in the per head price is based on the type of elements you would like for your table tops (i.e. real plates vs disposables)
